The new 2016 Nissan Altima has more to offer in a family sedan than ever before. If you have any questions about defining the use of the term “more” you might want to check with the 2016 versions of both the Toyota Camry or Hyundai Sonata. The two were surpassed in power by the new Altima’s 182 horses under the hood. It should be easy to reach the 2016 versions of Honda Accord along with both the Sonata and Camry. The trio will be stopping for gas while the newest version of Nissan’s Altima cruises right on by them because of yep, you guessed it the shocking fuel economy of an EPA 39 mpg highway left them all three in the dust. It is not the competition’s fault that the Nissan Altima uses “active-grille” shutters that automatically close at highway speeds and reduce wind resistance to best them for fuel efficiency, they are just outsmarted. While they are filling up with gas, the Camry, and Accord drivers might need to stretch their legs because the 2016 Nissan Altima that just buzzed by them with more horsepower and better fuel economy also has more front passenger headroom and legroom. (40/45”) The 2016 Nissan Altima is like that – it just knows how to win, and it looks great doing it. If you are impressed by the performance, economy and comfort the fact that the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) awarded the 2016 Altima the “Top Safety Pick Plus” we can put another check in that box as well. So let’s see, we are looking for a great family sedan, and we have just put the little check mark for best of on power, efficiency, comfort, and safety, is there anything left to discover? You bet there is when it comes to talking about the awesomeness of the 2016 Nissan Altima we’re just getting warmed up!
The Sedan With Attitude:
Nissan’s 2016 Altima is often referred to as a “family sedan.” Some would say that is a marketing concept but for the families that own them they consider it a helpful tool in keeping harmony in the household. The newest version of the Altima is just so addicting everyone in the house who has a driver’s license kept referring to it as “my Altima” so Nissan stepped in and used the word “family” just to calm things down a bit. With a savvy four-cylinder version the 2.5 liters, four cylinder outperforms the competition with the horses as mentioned earlier and fuel efficiency but the 3.5 liter V6 engine boasts of a sassy 270 “ponies of power rating” and 251l-ft of torque and still throws down an EPA of 32 mpg on the highway.
Picking Up Where They Left Off:
Since the last version the engineers at Nissan thought it might be a nice extra to add even more pick up to the 2016 Altima so they gave it an acceleration from a stand still that makes just about any sedan driver blush from the rush. They explained that the new enhanced quickness was designed for seamless acceleration during passing and merging needs. Well, that’s the engineering staff’s story, and they are sticking to it. Documentation for “passing and merging” requirements looks much more appropriate on their reports than just getting real and confessing to the fact that making the Altima a little bit of a “Bad”- “Censored” was their way of passing on some fun.
Family Sedan – Let’s Be Completely Honest:
OK let’s be completely honest and explain a few things in just real terms. When a car manufacturer designs and engineers different models of cars, they can’t be entirely truthful with the public in Nissan’s case. The problem the Nissan people have is that there are only so many models of cars that can be labeled “performance sedans,” “sports sedans,” and just plain awesomely performing sedans. There is this “unwritten” sort of rule that you pretty much have to pick a few models out and use the term “family car.” To be completely frank the Altima is head and shoulders above what most would consider a “family sedan” because it blows that concept and all other competitors listed in that category away at the same time. The only reason that Nissan can call a driving machine with this much performance and tech-savvy personality traits “family” is because it is practical. We did it; we used the word that is often reserved for comfortable shoes which are ugly, scaling back on the channels on the cable and limiting going out to eat to once or twice a week. Using that same word on this car makes you feel dirty so let’s agree to disagree and change it to “smart.”
Things that Make the Altima Smart:
The 2016 Nissan Altima has so many great ideas listing them reads like a “who’s who” in automotive innovation. Let’s start with CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) that allows for smooth and quiet cruising speeds, stress-free acceleration, improved fuel economy, quicker acceleration from a stand still and always you to be in the perfect gear position at all times for maximum efficiency. Predictive Forward Collision Warning and Forward Emergency Braking help the Altima stay out of trouble by alerting the driver of slowing traffic in front and then applying the brake automatically if the driver does not respond in time. Blind Spot warning lets you know when a car is in that spot that nobody can see and if you try and use a turn signal with someone in the lane a “warning chime” will sound. Rear view monitoring allows for safety while in reverse. Dual zone climate control keeps people from arguing over the cabin temperature by providing freedom to choose. In the back seat, larger vents circulate air more efficiently and allow for a more comfortable passenger experience. NISSANCONNECT allows for voice-activated hands-free talking, texting and posting to social media. Navigation in the Altima is state of the art and the top of the line Bose Audio System option has nine speakers which are custom-tuned to the cabin’s acoustics allowing music to be channeled throughout the vehicle for an expansive musical experience.
Keeping Precious Cargo Safe:
Passengers are the most precious cargo of them all and nothing helps keep your family and friends safer than a cabin with front airbags, side airbags and roof-mounted airbags, six in all. Child seat movement is safe and comfortable with the “LATCH” technology which provides lower anchors and tethers for children. Zone body construction is a process of the manufacturer where Nissan uses both specialized materials and techniques to absorb “crash energy” during impact and redistributes the energy into regions of the car away from the passengers helping reduce injury. Tire pressure is continually monitored through the “TPMS” system with easy fill tire alert that honks when you reach the right level.
After A Century It Should Make Sense:
Nissan has been making cars since 1914 long before the name and company we recognize today was even the wildest dream. Manufacturing excellence from the Nissan team of employees and creative genius from the engineers is what gives them the edge and keeps loyal owners coming back for more. There is only one problem the 2016 Nissan Altima is just far too stylish, sporty and sassy to classify it as a “family” sedan. Let’s just call it an awesomely designed pleasure to drive machine and list the “family” classification to customer preference.
